Truman Annex & Sunset Key are two Key West neighborhoods that do not “fit the mold”. Truman Annex is both a neighborhood and military installation in Key West, Florida, United States. It is the part of the island that is west of Whitehead Street, with the exception of Bahama Village. It is where the winter White House for President Harry S. Truman is located from its days as part of the former Naval Station Key West. The residential homes built in the 1990’s are characterized by white Key West fences that line the wide streets, quiet streets and superb landscaping. Single family homes as well as townhomes can be found there. An interesting fact for investors, many of the homes have “transient” licenses which are in high demand and allow the owner to rent for periods less than a month. Fort Zachary Taylor and its pristine beach is within walking distance.
Located about a quarter mile from Key West and directly opposite Mallory Square, Sunset Key is a 27-acre residential neighborhood and very high-end resort island. There are no cars on the inland and residents must either have a private boat or take a small ferry shuttle to get back and forth. If your desire is privacy and willing to spend the price for these multi-million dollars houses, you can call sunset Key home.
